About VoltAfrica
What does VoltAfrica Mobility do?
We design, source and deploy electric vehicles, charging and energy technology for Nigeria. That covers electric motorcycles, tricycles, cars, SUVs and minibuses, solar-backed charging and battery swapping, fleet services such as telematics and leasing, and monthly impact reporting.
Do you manufacture vehicles?
Today we source and deliver vehicles and build the charging and services around them. Local assembly of vehicles and batteries is our direction of travel, not something we claim to have today.
Where do you work?
We are a Nigerian company with a footprint in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Nigeria's other major cities. Nigeria is where our data and first projects are, and our ambition is Africa-wide, with Nigeria as the gateway to West Africa.
Who do you serve?
Riders and logistics operators, corporate fleets, transport operators, and government programmes at state and agency level. Anything that does not fit neatly, from a community scheme to a one-off idea, goes through Special Projects.
Buying and importing
How does importing vehicles work?
We handle sourcing, supplier checks, certification, shipping, port clearance and delivery to your site. Import rules and charges affect the final cost and change over time, so we confirm what applies to your project when we prepare your costed plan.
How long does delivery take?
It depends on the supplier, shipping and clearance. We give a timeline in the costed plan for your project, with the steps that carry the most uncertainty marked.
What does it cost?
We do not publish list prices, because cost depends on the vehicle, quantity, charging and the conditions at the time. We prepare a costed plan after assessing your needs. Our planning calculators let you estimate running costs in the meantime.
Can I lease or use a managed service instead of buying?
Yes. Leasing options and managed fleets are part of our fleet services. Terms are agreed per project.
Do you work with individuals?
Yes, we would like to hear from you. Our core work is with organisations, and Special Projects exists for everything else: individuals, groups and one-off ideas. Tell us what you have in mind through the contact form and we will tell you what is possible and what it would take.
Charging and energy
What happens when the grid fails?
That is why we design charging with solar generation and battery storage where they pay back. Vehicles can charge from the sun by day and stored energy when the grid is down, and swap hubs keep charged batteries in stock.
Can I charge at my own premises?
Yes. Depot charging at your premises is a core part of our fleet work. We check your power supply, size the charge points and schedule charging to stay within what the supply can deliver.
Is battery swapping better than plug-in charging?
For motorcycles that work long hours, swapping gets a rider back on the road in under a minute. For cars and minibuses that park overnight, plug-in AC charging is simpler and cheaper. We recommend whichever fits how the vehicle is used.
What happens to old batteries?
Our direction is to reuse batteries in stationary storage once they no longer suit vehicles, and then recycle them in Nigeria. We will say plainly which parts of that are available when you ask.
Impact and reporting
What do you report?
Every deployment gets a monthly report on users served, savings, emissions avoided and jobs, with the method for each measure stated.
How do you calculate emissions avoided?
We report tailpipe carbon dioxide not emitted, using a stated emission factor per litre of petrol not burned, and we say that the figure is before emissions from generating the electricity. Where electricity data allows, we also show a grid-adjusted figure.
Working with us
How do we start?
Use the contact form and tell us what you need to move, how far and how often. We will propose an assessment and a costed plan. If you cannot tell which category you fall into, choose Special project.
How do you handle my information?
We use the details you send us to reply and to prepare proposals. Read our privacy notice for the specifics.
Let's talk
Tell us what you need to move.
We will show you how to move it on electricity, with a costed plan, a delivery timeline and a monthly report you can stand behind.
