Impact
If it is not measured, it did not happen
Every deployment ends in a monthly report on users served, savings, emissions avoided and jobs. Each number comes with the method behind it.
What we report
Four measures, every month
Users served
Riders, drivers and passengers using the vehicles and charging, counted from records rather than estimated.
Savings
Fuel and maintenance cost avoided, calculated against the petrol price in the month, with the energy cost actually paid deducted.
Emissions avoided
Tailpipe carbon dioxide not emitted, stated with the factor used and, where data allows, adjusted for the electricity used.
Jobs
Installers, technicians, hub attendants and riders supported by the programme, with the basis for counting each stated.
Rider savings calculator
What could one rider save in a month?
Our working figure for a commercial rider is about ₦155,000 a month. Start with the defaults, which reproduce it, then replace them with your own numbers. Maintenance savings are left at zero so the result does not flatter.
More assumptions
Estimated saving per month
petrol avoided, less the electric energy you pay for
- Petrol per month ₦178,860
- Electric energy per month ₦24,200
- Share of fuel cost cut 86%
- Saving per year ₦1,855,920
- Petrol not burned per year 1,584 L
- Tailpipe CO₂ avoided per year 3.6 t
A planning estimate. It excludes the purchase or lease cost of the vehicle, and the CO₂ figure is before emissions from generating electricity. A reported result will use measured data.
Method
How we keep the numbers honest
- Baselines come first. We record what users spent before they switched, so the saving is measured against their reality and not a brochure.
- Prices are dated. Each report states the petrol price and energy cost used for that month.
- Emissions are stated narrowly. We report tailpipe emissions avoided and say so. Where electricity data exists we also show the grid-adjusted figure.
- Jobs are defined. We say which roles count and how long they last.
- Misses are reported. Downtime, charging gaps and service issues appear in the same report as the savings.
Sample report
A monthly report on one page
Boards, funders and stakeholders do not read spreadsheets. They read one page that says what happened, what it cost and what it saved.
Placeholders that show the layout. No real programme data is shown.
